Bob if you removed the metal machete you're a wise man - there's a reason
they stopped making them lol...
Nope, never ran the metal Machette. Just the plastic Machette III. It
works fine and makes diced salad out of thick grass. In fact I was quite
happy with it. The only eason I bought the mouse ear was because I snapped
a blade off my Machette trying to drag the boat over a sandbar with it, and
I don't like my two blade prop for running in the grass.
I am hoping the mouse ear lives up to its brag of having better pulling
power and efficiency in the current as well as doing a good job in the
wedbeds.
Before I used the 3 blade Machette in grass and weeds, and switched to my
two blade prop when pulling the current.

Rich this indeed the best prop on the market, but this should be noted:
Motorguide (might be Minn Kota, but I'm pretrty sure it's Motorguide
though) now markets the prop with thier name on it. If you buy the
Kipawa version & bring your motor in for warranty work your warranty
will
be voided immediately. To be covered you must have the MG version,
with
the MG logo on it. If you go with the Kipawa version, make sure you
remove the prop before servicing it.
Also, note that if you bring a prop-equipped motor in for warranty work
to either MK or MG, the first thing they do is remove the prop. If
there's fishing line inside behind the prop both warranties are void.
So
it's a good practice to remove your prop (& any line) prior to bringing
it in for service.
I am, by the way, looking for one of these props.

I'm running a MG version of the mouse ear Kipewa prop on my TR109. It
works great, but I still need a prop that will climb up the TM shaft and
clear the weeds off that. LOL.
I have to say though I don't see the big deal about weedlessness. The
Machete III that came on my TM did a good job in the trash. Neither
removes grass balls from the TM shaft so no big. I have not run the new
Kipewa enough to tell if it really gives more thrust and more
efficiency.
Time will tell.
