I'll be tossing some very heavy (3/4 to 1 oz) spinnerbaits in a few weeks,

Well if retrieve speed is an issue obviously one of the newer 7:1 reels
would be the ticket.

The PT series in 7:1 looks like a good bet, and I have had very good luck
with the PT reels, although I don't own a burner. I like the mag brake if
for no other reason than its quickly and easily adjusted as needed.

As afar as distance. The smallest limpest line possible. My instinct would
be to use 14# Suffix Seige. Its an incredibly good line and very limp for a
mono that heavy. Obviously braid might give you heavier strength for the
diameter, and Stren Super Braid is smooth enough to cast very well. Still
knowing my own skills I would think I would launch a few spinner baits into
orbit going for maximum distance with braid because it has no give. Much
like your own experiences with flourocarbon line. The most minor catch,
backlash, or over run will cause the line to snap with such heavy baits.
Mono will give. In fact with such heavy baits I might even move upto 17
Seige, but one of your points was distance.
