I am not one that has a lot of experience with braided line. In fact,
spider wire is the only one I have tryed. I only use it above the
swivel on a Carolina rig so I don't have to re-rig everytime I get hung
up in cover.

My two biggest complaints about braided line a

#1 after a week or so the line that is exposed to the water starts to
fade and becomes white.

***They pretty much all do that. It doesn't seem to affect my catch ratio
but if it does really bother you, you can cut a slit in a wide tipped
permanent marker and slide 10-15 feet of line through it to darken the line.


#2 The dig into the spool factor. After a hook set on a good fish you
usually have an abrupt stop on your next cast where the line dug in on
the hook set.

***If it digs in, you didn't spool it up tight enough in the first place.
Tie one end of your line to something solid and back up until all the line
is off the spool. Now, with the drag set as tight as it will go, slowly,
with a LOT of pressure on the rod, crank the line back on the spool. NOW
it's on tight enough and won't dig in. You should only have to do this a
couple times a season.


Anybody find a braided line that doesn't fade?

***Nope, and I've tried a bunch. Some are a little better than others, but
they all do it eventually.
