I agree on the feathers part. I subscribe to a podcast that has video's
on how to tie flies. Looks to be a fairly steep learning curb on how to
pick materials for tying flies.

You also might want to spend some time wandering around Mike Hogue's
web site as well. Http://www.eflytyer.com. Mike has a lot of very
useful information about selecting materials on his site. He runs
Badger Creek Fly Tying and is another good guy. I have also been a
customer of his for over a decade.

Since I am giving up some pretty good web sites, you should also check
out Http://www.Charliesflybox.com. Charlie has a great set of tutorials
on his site that cover over 100 patterns. Also Harry Mason's site
Http://www.troutflies.com. Harry does a great job of photography on his
trout flies and has great tutorials.

I found it much easier to learn after taking a tying class to get with
a group that ties flies on a regular basis. It lowers the level of
frustration to be able to ask"how do I do this?" and six guys show you
different ways to get the same job done.

This should keep you busy for a while.
