Funny to hear you say that. Whenever I tell people that I have an Epi
copy of the SG, they just scoff. I just smile to myself and think of how
much I saved on it versus a "real" Gibson.
my earlier observation was based upon my playing of the recent
"masterbilt" line of acoustics marketed under the epi name, chuck. i can't
vouch for anything else. still, my son, who is very knowledgeable
concerning electrics, alleges that the epi copies of gibson's legendary "les
paul" models are very good.
The Epi SG is a heck of a bargain, IMHO. But gearheads probably
would have little use for it (plus there's that old "buy Amurrcan" thing).
Actually, gearheads probably have little use for the original SG,
come to think of it. :-) I liked its fat, chunky sound and the fact
that it's got a neck like the business end of a baseball bat (I could
never handle the skinny necks on Strats, etc.)
