Butano Creek - San Mateo County - California ?
I live in Morgan Hill and have been scouting out various parts of Coyote
Creek. I have been catching trout there. Its catch and release with
barbless hooks.
I just returned from a day trip up to the lower sacramento drifting from
redding to anderson, which was really fun, but the 4.5 hr drive up and back
is kindda tough. So, I'm kindda looking for a closer place to fish.

I'll ditto this info on Butano and Pescadero.
Not sure where which direction you'll be coming from, but your best bet
for
good fishing off the coast is the Garcia River for the steelhead run.
Tom,
What has happened to the San Lorenzo river the past 4-5 years?
Is it fishable still?
The San Lorenzo has been going through an on-going environmental
restoration which seems like for ages.
What was once rich in steelhead and Coho salmon has now changed. From a
local source they had a great run giant carp this past year. Not sure
what to do with giant carp other than catch and release. Yes it's still
fishable, but I've been told not to eat anything you take out of the San
Lorenzo River.
I haven't been to Felton on the outskirts of Santa Cruz for some time, but
I hooked onto an 8 pound Coho many years ago.
Would you know if Felton is still fishable?
I don't fish much locally here. I head up to the Northern California, the
McCloud, Trinity and the Eastern Sierra's.
fwiw,
