Nah Chris, I aint takin it personally from you. I do not use leaders, per
say 20# main and 10# leader. I guess that is what you are talking about. I
use 14# all the way from the reel to the bait on small plastics. 17# on all
others. Bob I remember from a good while back. Like I posted that I made the
observation of what my problem was and know beyond a doubt what it was, I
thought I would pass it along so that maybe some here may experiment. He
answered like I was calling him out as being dumb. Not the case at all. I
would never do that. Forums, newsgroups and such are tools one can use to
learn. I used to post here, got tired of the clique crap that was going on
and stopped posting. Stopped lurking altogether and unsubscribed. After a
couple of years, I thought I'd check in. A lot of folks aint here no more
and some left for the same reasons I did. I learned a lot from the people
here and I thank y'all. At one time there was a line that came out (I think
it was a Stren co-polymer) that was discussed here and a certain few liked
it. Quite a bit more didn't and I was one of those that didn't. I told what
was going on with it and I got slammed. Cannot for the life of me figure out
how someone out in cyberspace can tell me what my line was doing to me when
I was looking at it myself with a magnifying glass. What it was was when you
cinched the knot down, well lubricated and pulled slowly, if just enough
pressure was put on it the 2, as in co-polymer, would snap apart right at
the knot, leaving only the inside core holding the bait on. With about 4-5#
more pressure the core would snap. I lost 2- $15 baits one right after the
other. Put that rod up for the day. When I got home I could duplicate what
was happening time after time and with a glass I could see what was
happening. Still got slammed on it. I may be from the south and dumb as a
bag of rocks but I aint ignorant. If someone asks anyones opinion here I
wont slam you or anyone else for it. If it happened to me and I figure out
what maybe I was doing wrong then I figure it might help someone else. It
surely couldn't hurt. I thought that is what a forum or newsgroup was for.
If there are those that thinks this is their private country club and all
here have to walk in step then there cannot be anything learned. I rekon
I'll just lurk for a time. If something comes along that someone wants to
know about, I will just try e-mailing them instead of posting here, at least
till I see who and what is going on. Later.

Steve,
I am sure none of us thought you would take any of this so personally.
I went through spool after spool of using Vanish as leader material, and
I broke it more than enough times to move on to something else.
The question was asked about anyone using Vanish, and everyone answered
with their opinions and experiences. You haven't had any issues, in my
opinion you are just lucky, or using very heavy leaders. I guess I look
at it this way, I am only able to fish so much (which I guess is
relatively a lot) and the last thing I want to do is talk about the one
that got away when it was something I could have prevented by using
better equipment.
Just my take
Chris

Maybe it IS the case here Bob. All the dissing the Vanish line and all.
I
have no stock in Berkley and receive exactly nada from them. What's with
the
freakin attitude????? Do you not think that sunlight is harmful to it?
It's
no secret. All the line companies warn about it. I always ignored it too
until it started happenin to me and found out what was causing it. I
figured
it wasn't rocket science. I left this newsgroup once because it seemed
if
you weren't in the "click" everything one would say is assaulted. Damn I
guess things aint changed around here!

Just posting what I have experienced. The stuff works for me. Just for
kicks, do any of you store your rods and reels anywhere near a window
in
the
house or garage?
If that were the case don't you think we would have problems with all
our
line?
