Maybe not, but maybe so - certainly might be worth a try in any case. I've
seen plenty of times when fish were rising to dries (of any sort) but still
taking emergers and nymphs.
All I can think of is trying to dap an adult imitation. Mike Connor
posted about something like this a long time ago - long rod, long
leader, dangle the fly just above the surface. More like
marionetting than fishing... I've never tried that, but I've thought
about it when the bass are hitting hovering damsels.
That's almost more unethical than nymphing. ;-)
