In some states, they keep your drivers license until you prove your story
about having
a fishing license.

I changed from golf to fishing, i'm so new at it, I thought " wow you
need a really good swing to get over this lake." I live within 1 hour
of great lakes and rivers here in the San Jaquin Valley. If I like it,
I will obtain a fishing license. If I am caught, I'll tell them my
license blew away and went downstream. This is my first fish story, so
give me a break,
Here in California they just give you a ticket. They do give a couple of
free fishing days a year, so you could try it out then. If you show up in
court with a license bought before the ticket, you can have the fine reduced
to $25 for non display of a license. This state requires you to visably
wear you license. If no license, lot of the judges will drop the charges if
you purchase a lifetime license. Price depends on age. Mine at 62 was
$300, sounds like you are in the $800 range. Fine is about the same.
