Let's finally be honest... what is killing this newsgroup is those who
keep telling posters all the things they cannot do & all the thing they
consider to be off topic.

Nah, it's the top-posting. Intelligent denizens of Usenet newsgroups
never top-post and most are put off by having to put up with it.
You won't have a vital, active, busy newsgroup so long as you have a
high percentage of top-posting.

I was a welcome poster here until my knowledge of certain areas of
fishing allowed me to go professional, at which time my contributions
became persona non grata to some. That is stupid!

I didn't know you were unwelcome here or a persona non grata. Are
you sure it doesn't have something to do with being a rabid tool
of the radical right ?

This group can again be great, but posters will have to just quit being
gutless wimps, and instead post what they want regardless of who it
might offend. Unfortunately, this group today is as totally useless as
the United Nations!

How about that Nancy Pelosi, Bob !! Just what we need in Washington,
a tough-minded granny wielding a big-assed Democratic whooping stick !
Woohoo !!

Well, to tell you the truth Bob, this particular post of yours wasn't
all that useful. But that's OK, I'll be happy to toss your old arse
out of my canoe any day. Just say when and I'll be there.

You are a prime example of a horse ass. Bottom posting was the thing with
KSR33's. But that time has passed. Same with VT52's and DEC Vax 780, and
it's forerunners. You could not easily move around the screen and since a
KSR was a paper I/O there was not backing up.

Ah, it makes sense to me now. I suppose when the text was loaded it
would scroll immediately to the bottom, probably because the message was
appended to the previous. For the life of me I couldn't see the purpose
of bottom posting, like a previous person had wrote, it is difficult (or
inconvenient) to have to scroll all the way to the bottom through all
the previous messages.
Oh well, at least I can see both sides of the argument now, not that
what I think really matters, but for my own piece of mind I finally
understand :-).
