Hi, does anybody have one of these lying around they wish to sell, broken
one will be fine, I just need the bale-arm spring
Following applies to almost all fixed spool reels:
If the spring hasn't actually snapped check the arm itself - if it's been
forced a little out of shape (bottom of fishing bag with weight on top for
eg.) then it can seem as if the spring has weakened when in fact the cure is
to bend the bale arm back into place.
Disassemble, clean, lubricate, reassemble BUT DO NOT TIGHTEN, does it seem
to work better? If so it's the bale arm or the wearing surface, not the
spring.
