Drano you have to consume before a colonoscopy. It was one
of the rare displays of unanimity I've ever seen on roff,
everyone seemed to agree on it. So, what is it ?
Fleets phosphate of soda. 6 oz, then another 6oz 4hrs later. They
also tried to give me a "stool softener." 30 minutes after the Fleets
hit my system, I needed a water softener.

I think you mean Fleet's Phospho-Soda (Sp?), and yeah, it'll clean you
out, er, but good, as will any of the related stuff, like Citrate of
Magnesia/magnesium citrate/etc. That said, I thought they gave the
probee-to-be whatever they wanted to torture them with - no?
FWIW, unless you, um, anticipate the need a lot of it, a inexpensive
bottle of ready-to-consume magnesium citrate is probably a better deal
than a bottle of Fleet's that will last most folks several
lifetimes...OTOH, since it's Forty, it might take a full bottle of
Fleet's...
