To remind the white racists that he might look darned near like actual
people...you know, white...but there's still a lot of coon in the
woodpile, to remind the black racists that he might look damned near

in the coffee, and perhaps most importantly, to remind the guilty white
liberals that while he's just as equal as they are, it really isn't fair
to subject a poor, downtrodden black man to the sacrifices she's
prepared to make...and in any case, reminding all that you just can't
trust those of possible conflicting racial loyalties to wink, wink "do
the _right_ thing"...with any luck, given all the directions she'll be
wink-winking in, there'll be some amusing videotape of her looking like
she's sending Morse code...
