In trying to remove a reel stuck on my sage xp 5-weight, I forced it
and ended up bending the (not sure what it's called) ring that screws
up to hold the reel onto the rod.

Any suggestions for how I can fix this... or, if it's not something I
can do myself, where I would get it fixed?


The reel seat is most likely epoxied to the blank, and you can usually
break the bond with heat. Try immersing the reel seat in a pot of
boiling water on the stove for 5 minutes and then twist firmly to
break it loose. If you know the manufacturer you might be able to
get a replacement ring from them, otherwise you can just glue on a
new reel seat. You can get them from many different sources; I
usually go to Hook & Hackle (http://www.hookhack.com)
