Hello, I would not boil the reel seat end of the rod. The adhesive and
resign they use in high end blanks has a very low temperature break
down point. I think its under 190 degrees. I'm sure at 212 it will harm
the blank. If its a struble uplocking reel seat and the only thing
holding the screw rings on is a small silver end cap. Then you can heat
just the end cap with a lighter for about 30 seconds and it will come
right off. Just pull on it with a glove so you dont burn you hand. I'll
bet its only 5 minute epoxy that holds the end cap on the reel seat. If
that dont work send it to the Penns clave with someone and I will fix
