Priest Arrested For Alleged Attack

LAS VEGAS -- A fugitive Catholic priest was arrested Thursday in Arizona.


The FBI said the 52-year-old priest was taken into custody near Phoenix. A
felony warrant charges him with attempted murder, sexual assault, kidnapping
and battery with a deadly weapon.

According to a police report obtained by The Associated Press, the woman
told investigators she was sitting at her desk when Chaanine broke a bottle
of wine over her head, grabbed her hair and dragged her into his office and
molested her.

Chaanine has been suspended "with pay" by church officials, who say they are
"relieved" that "justice can be served."
