Well I broke down and did it, I've been putting it of for a year, I
finally convinced my wife "I NEEDED" this camera, although I have three
other digital cameras.

Sounds great. Just one question.

Does it use conventional batteries or a proprietary rechargeable?

AA's :-)
Of course the rechargeable NIMH are the best, but any will work if your
batteries die while away from a charger, You get around 500 photos on a
charge of NIMH

I have a 1 Gig SD card in it now, from one of my other cameras, but I will
be receiving a 4 Gig 150X card today

Here is a "review" page on the camera

It's not perfect , but it is great

The reason I asked.

I have run across a lot of great deals on cameras with some pretty
impressive specs in the last couple years. Unfortunately a lot of them use
a proprietary rechargeable battery pack. Basically guaranteeing that it has
a short use to paper weight cycle.
