Default GFS2007 - 2/17 Update

I didn't make it to the PO today, and it'll be closed until the
deadline on Tuesday, so I expect everybody's flies will be there then
('ceptin one tyer I just spoke with).

FYI, Wayne P & Opie's flies arrived yesterday. Well, I picked them up
yesterday; I don't really know when they arrived.

Tag 'em; lick 'em; & stick 'em boys. Three days to go.

Proof again that procrasination pays lousy dividends. Joe, there is no US
mail service today, so (according to my sharp-as-a-doorknob calculations)
the flies won't arrive until Wednesday. Sorry swappers.

Recipe:
Fly: Dun/Grizzly Weighted Bugger
Hook: Tiemco, TMC 9394, #6
Thread: #6 black
Tail: Grizzly hen
Weight: 1/2 body length lead wrap
Body: Dun chenille
Hackle: Grizzly hen
Finish: Red wire

Wrap hook with thread, tying in tail as you go. Tie in wire and chenille
just above barb. Wrap single layer of medium lead (or five layers of large
lead if you're Frank Reid) from just in back of center to about 1/8 inch
before eye and secure with thread, leaving thread at the eye. Wrap chenille
forward to form even body and tie off at eye. Tie in hackle, palmer back to
the tail, secure with three wraps of the wire, and remove excess. Wrap wire
forward to eye securing hackle and body, making sure to work through
barbules without smashing them down. Secure wire at eye with thread and whip
finish head.

Tied in honor of Dave Mohnsen, who traded me his friendship, tying
expertise, extraordinary photos, and material possessions for a handful of
wooly buggers. The last I heard was a message from his sister saying Dave
was seriously ill, and I was only able to speak to him once after that.
Dave, if you can read this, be well my friend.

NOTE TO SWAPPERS: I did *not* finish the head with head cement, but you may
wish to do so before fishing.

Honest now, Joe - am I the last one?
