How would you esplain it?

BTW, my name is Chuck Vance, not Someone. It was at the bottom of
my post, but I guess you just didn't make it that far.
Sorry about the "someone" reference to you in an earlier post.
I use Google Groups, to read usenet, and it's hard to use.
I lost *my* cool and yelled at Ken Fortenberry last week,
because of Google Groups confusion about who said what.
I use it because that's all I have.
I understand. In fact, I might not post at all if I had to rely on
Google groups for posting to ROFF. (Oh, shutup whoever said that might
be a good thing. :-) No offense taken. I think we've all been a bit
on edge with some of the madness going on around here.
I've allowed myself to get sucked into off-topic slug fests
in the past. And in this case I seem to have started one.
But in general my record is good. For the past 15 years
I've mostly asked or answered on-topic questions, and I did
(do) my best to ignore the cat fights. (my first post was
to rec.fishing in 1993.....preceded only by the halfordian
golfer, to my knowledge...among still breathing participants)
I'm a relative newbie here (2002?), but go back with rec.woodworking
to about 1996 and back with some political and music groups to BITNET
days (maybe 1991). I'll admit to getting involved in offtopic stuff and
some catfights, but my main reason for coming here is for information
and trip reports.
And frankly, I don't ever recall seeing you involved in offtopic
stuff ... well, maybe a political thread or two. :-)
I think the newsgroup would be a healthier place if more
readers made the same effort.
Sure, and that's really all you can ask. But it's tough to avoid
when some of the other stuff someone comes along wearing a "kick me"
sign and says "I dare you, you bunch of arrogant arseholes". :-}

ontopic stuff amidst the other nonsense)
