I can't find anything on Google about it, but in the early 80s, as
legend
has it, a dying kid made a request thru the Make-A-Wish foundation, to
go
fishing with his idol, Roland Martin. Roland said he didn't have time
to
mess with the kid. Anyway, Bill Dance and some other anglers took the
kid
fishing, when Roland heard what an ass he was portrayed by the public,
he
told the kid he'd take him fishing, and the kid told him, 'No thanks'.

Interesting. I won't be repeating that though unless I were to see a
confirmation somewhere.

I've heard it from a dozen people, but it might be one of those legends.

Nothing wrong with making a buck... but those rocket fishing rods look
like REAL crap.
Bill Dance seems to be doing well with his endorsement of lures and
bass pro shops.
Its funny though how the top guys in the bass circuit (meaning with
the most wins) don't seem to be on TV much.

Maybe it takes longer to get the recognition.
