I had dinner this evening at a local club and one guy at the table
was saying the finest rainbow fishing in the U.S. is in the Sand Hills
of Nebraska.

I expect that the person you were talking to is on crack or some other
fine substance. In northern Nebraska, there is one, count 'em, ONE
stream with trout. It is highly dependent on stocking and its a about
a 75/25 shot on rainbows over browns. They average about 13".
