looks like it's going to be set up in the Smokies sometime in May....

john

i'm trying to make arrangements to meet up with wolfgang in may...when
are you planning your trip?

I'm heading out of here on the evening of the 16th or in the wee hours of
the 17th. I hope to hook up with Chuck for a day or so before he leaves
on Saturday. John and I have discussed a couple of options.....joining
you and Mark for the Upper Creek campout was on the list but appears to
have been crossed off for logistical reasons. Nothing else has been
decided yet. Am willing to entertain just about any ideas. John has
graciously offered his deluxe traveling yurt as a base camp. One way or
another we gonna have us some FUN!

Over to you, John.

Wolfgang

Well, I still hate to see you head down I-75 and both of us end up with two
vehicles but it is what it is...I'd be glad to pick up a hitch hiker or
two..

It's about seven hours, depending on the stops for me to get to Elkmont
campground ( I believe that is the staging area? ) So I'd be inclined to
leave in the wee hours.. 5 weeish in order to get there and set up with
plenty of Daylight and fish in the evening right there in the campground.
speaking of which, some thought needs to given to reserving a campsite...not
that it will be crowded but if you want waterfront....two or three
adjacent....

I'm pretty danged familiar with that side of the park and a death march
could be easily arranged (pack lunch and all that) down Abrams Creek toward
the falls, it's limestone and plenty of fish (tho' educated).

Personally, in that park I keep ALL my food in the van and don't cook all
that much mostly sandwiches and stuff, warming up premade gravy for
breakfast and as always, plenty of hot strong coffee....

All those who reply will be added to group so details may be more easily
exchanged. I plan to swing thorough Penns on the way home...

john...as I said I'm pretty familiar with that side of the park...hell all
sides...on the south side the road to nowhere holds good fish, straight
creek is nice and if the light is right it's one of my favorites...real
Jurassic...
