5x is the sweet spot for me for most of my trout fishing. ...


My standard trout tippet is 4X Orvis SuperStrong at 6 lb. test.
I rarely use anything else and then only when necessary.

My bass leaders taper to 0X, also Orvis SuperStrong and that's
15.5 lb. test. I'll also use Orvis Mirage fluorocarbon in 0X
and that's listed at 12 lb. test.
