Hey Tom, I know you told you were practically born on the track.
Best Derby Days ever: 1986(I think), Ferdinand. Put $200 on Ferdinand at
19-1 with a book. It was a good
score....I had lots of friends at the bar that night(and on well into the
following morning). 1994, don't even recall Derby winner. All I remember
was that it rained, a lot, the track was muddy and I was up around $2500
by the time the Derby was run. As I recall, I put about half of it back
onto a safe sort of place bet or something and won that.
The wife spent most of that one on stuff I can't recall, but I did get a
Thomas and Thomas fly rod to fish Penn's Creek with. Generally, most of my
Derby Days have been lackluster, win a bit, lose a bit. I usually bet most
of the card leading up to the race, so I can be a bit short by the race
itselfg.
Tom
Wow 19-1....great story!
I do remember Ferdinand because we had a secretary (Not Secretaria)
by that last name.
