Someday I want to build a bamboo rod case for my graphite rod. I am
still working on the cap, any suggestions? I think I'll have to use a
wood cover with a hing system fastenec around the tube.

Get some spare pieces of bamboo flooring. Already made into planks,
just cut to length and width, put an angle on it with your table saw,
make some brass end caps, glue it all together, cut it 3 inches from
the top, put on a latch and leather hinge, Bobs your uncle.
