Well of course. Who buys a house with cash. We all have (had in our
case) mortgages at one time or another. Most can't buy a home without
borrowing money. He will pay off the 20 year mortgage and have a
little nest-egg before he's 45.

he doesn't own anything at 25 but an IOU. It proves nothing, although I wish
him well, and hope he bought a
lot of land, as the house itself depreciates. That was my only real point,
David, except to possibly slow down the
overall gloat that was developing.(BTW, yes, there are
some out there that can, and do buy the home outright).
My point was that I was in my 30s before I could afford a home. My
grandson bought his in his early 20s, and my other grandson is in the
process of buying his, and both of my children bought their homes when
they were in their 20s.

And my point is that you were in the Navy, making peanuts, compared to your
civilian children. You are comparing apples and oranges. Though you may be
also
publicly be patting yourself on the back for good parenting, probably
deservedly.
It only illustrates that the economy is good. Unemployment is low, as
is inflation and interest rates. My kids are having an easy time of
it with the present economy.

as pointed out, above, no, it really doesn't

Djyou see the market today? Up another record high. Of course it is
only on paper, or so they say, and what goes up can come down. Such
is life, eh?

precisely. It's a tool to make money, to be sure. One of many in a
capitalist economy. You won't hear me beef about the whole concept. I don't
get too hung up over today's exact numbers, I just am not that sort of
investor, by and large. Still, there are many underlying issues that the GOP
types have sort of pushed under the rug that are as troubling as anything
Democrats have come up with.
As I said, best wishes to you and your sons, but time will tell how well
this developing Global Economy sorts out for lots of folks........
