One of the cool aspects of the creek under the conditions that day was that
the water was high enough to be flowing 6" - 12" deep across those broad,
flat sandstone ledges. The wading was easy and sure-footed, not unlike
walking across a flooded concrete highway. It was a welcome relief from the
life-threatening conditions on the Salmon; and it was almost like play to
create powerboat wakes across the ledges as we walked.
