I was so glad to read your post, Bob, and it has nothing to do with the rod
but the fact that you went camping and fishing with your son. I'm much
closer to life's finale now than the opening number, and so far time spent
camping and fishing with my kids ranks clearly in my top 10 memories.
I gave away my 5-1/2-foot Shimano Beastmaster and the Zebco Omega spincast
reel I had mounted on it, but I kept one pistol-grip 5.5-foot Daiwa
Procaster rod with an old Ambassadeur reel. For close quarter fishing --
back in the buckbrush, under cypress trees, or back in the reeds and tulles,
it excels.
Speaking of memories, the day I finally got to fish the Colorado River with
you and Lannes was one of my personal fishing highlights. I will certainly
take you up on your offer of a return trip. Thanks very much.
Joe

Next time you head out this way I can probably show a little better action
on the river... even in the dead of winter.
