A Sad, Sad Message in my Mail

I just received this email.
"Dear Mr. Cleveland,
I am a close personal friend of Nancy Anderson whom you may know as
"Cyli". I was with her today in the nursing home she is at and she
requested I contact you concerning her situation. Sadly, Nancy passed
away Tuesday evening at 10 pm. She had long been suffering with
cancer.
I was with her near the end and she was sleeping peacefully.
I found you via the posts in rec.outdoors.fishing.fly.
I am sorry to bring this news. I will miss her dearly.
If I can be of service feel free to contact me at this email address.
Sincerely,
AA"
I'm speechless right now. I'll try to post more later.
One of the most reasoned, calm and droll voices to grace this place will be
sorely missed. As she stated in her tag line, Nancy WAS mostly
harmless.....except for her wonderful ability to deflect the rampant
misogyny that haunts this place and consequently inspire terror in its most
rabid practitioners. Her status as the only woman with a long tenure in ROFF
is a testament to her strength of character.
Like George and a few others here, I had the opportunity of meeting Nancy in
person. Clearly, she was not, and was never destined to be, a highly
successful fly fisher, but she was game and she had grace and sense enough
to enjoy the outings, the company, and even her minimal technical
accomplishments. In the time we spent together, she had trouble keeping up
on the road, as well as with the generally hectic pace of the trip we made
through Wisconsin and the U.P., but she did so with good cheer and without
complaint, the latter, in retrospect, foreshadowing what was presumably a
long and painful process of dying that she chose not to burden us with.
Maybe it was simple reticence on her part, a desire for privacy. I choose
to believe that it was an act of generosity. We could have been better
friends to her.
