Just want to say thanks for the recommendations from ROFF to Ray Rogers
Handcrafted Knives. I put in my order a year ago and working with Ray on
the handle input, length of blade, and personal touches he was able to
use his master skills to craft a fillet knife for me.
The handle is Bird's Eye Maple, which is my favorite wood, with a touch
of turquoise on the top end. It's a 9" flexible carbon steel blade. He
even put my name on the blade opposite side of his logo. Some have
commented it's too nice to take to the field, but like a violinist once
said to me, it doesn't do any good sitting in the case.

Wow....... You're really not gonna use that beauty on some slimy ole fish
now are you? Send it to me and I'll make a proper display case for it and
put it on display for you - right here where it can be really
appreciated... I'll even do it in Bird's Eye Maple - if you send it
overnight express.........
Very nice,
Bob S.
Thanks for the offer Bob, but I do enjoy using everything I own.
I once met an elderly angler on the McCloud river, CA who had a bamboo
flyrod with an older fly reel. One could easily tell the rod and reel had
been fished quite a lot over the years, as they both looked like they've
been through a war. When I asked him about his tackle, the gentleman said;
"We have a lot of fine stories to tell together", then he paused for a
moment looked over at me and replied; "a lot of lies too", as he smiled and
walked away.
