Jeff, I believe there are two fawn lakes. I know you found one that
was nowhere near the description that Fortenberry gave, but I have
heard of another one which is exactly as he described it.

dave - it's a decent effort for your friend, but it doesn't fit or
answer the dispute. i suspect there are probably more than two fawn
lakes...but ken and i were talking about the same one in Yellowstone
near the headwaters of the gardner and fawn creek (east of fan pass)...
the one i know exists, is shown on yellowstone maps, has plenty of
water, and holds sizeable brook trout; and, being the identical one ken
first stated didn't exist at all, then said was only a mud hole or
something like that. he even impLIED we (Warren, John Hightower, Chas,
and I) falsified the photos we took of the lake and the fish caught in
the lake. go back and look at the notes we exchanged about the location
and you'll be satisfied we were in the same spot. he just wasn't
telling the truth...
you may also recall my willingness to prove his lie... i offered a wager
in which i agreed to advance the cost of his airfare to Yellowstone in a
month suitable to him (i think it was august or september he liked best)
for a visit to fawn lake just to prove he wasn't correct - with his only
obligation being to reimburse me and pay my airfare and the cost of the
horsey ride (or something like that), and to admit his lie publicly, if
he was wrong.
dave - i'm sure you know when someone makes the bold assertion "i don't
lie", one should have no doubt, and no further proof should be required,
as to whether or not they are in fact a liar.
hope all is well in the land of democrats. i'm off to chase the puppy
drum tomorrow.
