We need to buy some spinning reels over the winter. We mostly fish for
bass. I like smaller reels as I have a bad right hand. Would appreciate
some recommendation for quality reels with a max cost in the $130 range.
Any suggestions appreciated. Any thoughts for spinning rods would also
help us.
Hope that's enough info. We don't fish tourneys, but do give our gear lots
of work so we're looking for above average performance. We had several
stolen last season and are down to our last two.
Thanks as ususal guys and gals.
Hi Josh,
I've had some great luck with Shimano Sahara and Stradic reels. You'd be
looking at $80 - $130 if I remember pricing correctly. I'd suggest the 1500
series size as typically you'll have them spooled with 10 pound line and the
capacity is plenty with that size reel. They're very light in weight and
mine have held up great over the years.
Another reel to look at is those made by Ardent Reels. They make one that's
about the right size and they're right around $130 too if I remember. What
I like about these reels is they're 100% American made and come with a full
three year warranty.
