Tonight I saw a pattern in my fly tying book called a Madame-X. It
said it could be used as a hopper, and it sat low in the water (like
some here have mentioned is a "good thing"). It looked real easy to
tie (I'm in my first season of tying so easy is a good thing right
now).

Any of you used this pattern with success as a hopper?

Is this it??http://www.rackelhanen.se/eng/10182.htm
I might even be able to tie it.

That's it. Man, I'm glad I asked this question in ROFF. Sounds like
I stumbled upon an easy to tie hopper pattern that is also effective.
This ROFF is a goldmine of info for newbies. Thank you everyone who
helped me on this one. There is a lot of junk in this newsgroup, but
the "gold" is here to, if you look for it. Lotta good guys here.

p.s. I also was grateful to everyone who helped with info on the
canoe (a post of about a month ago). That whole thread was very
helpful.
