Reading this stuff on Google Groups at work, and having nothing else
of substance to contribute to yet another of these threads, I thought
I'd offer an observation on just how insidious the industry of
targeted advertising has become. In skimming through the posts of
whose dog has fleas and who can play what instruments etc., I noticed
that two of the three sponsored links were for ukelele dealers.

In responding to the first post in the thread wherein MC uses the word
"sick", the three sponsored ads changed to a spine surgery center, a
disk replacement center, and an German MRT center.

Scary, I tell ya.

And speaking of scary, what did the "Alloy" picture produce - ads for
lava lamps, peter pumps, pukka shell necklaces, and a link to Engledink
Humperbert's craiglist garage sale ad, featuring Wayne Newton's
hand-me-downs?
