ok... then what?

Well, assuming adequate percolation, Montahoming will suffer my annual
visits from late May to mid-October ... but, another water year like the
last one and I think the number of used fly rods on e-bay will spike to new
highs I wouldn't plan a trip West, past June, until we see how Nature
deals with the drought

-----------------

I keep threatening to sample a couple rivers I've never fished or only
fished in "name collecting" mode .... the Big Horn being the one that pops
to mind most often. But, it's hundreds of miles past places I know I
love, and when ya get there all ya do is catch fish, which I can do without
the extra miles.

My nature seem best satisfied by long periods at one stream, a couple weeks
minimum, to really feel I'm starting to belong there. Two or three night
stands always leave me feeling as much empty as fulfilled. I'm very much
into self instruction when it comes to fly fishing, preferring to discover
on my own to being shown, so it takes me a while on a new river to
feel competent.

Many of the rivers I consider trying don't seem to have camping/ access /
non-fishing time quality, that suits my picky tastes. Spending $40/ day
to park my trailer 9 feet from another RV or $30/ day to have my truck moved
3 miles offends both my budget and my sense of how I want to spend my time.
.......... Sure, a day here or there, of either one, is OK, but not 20
days in a row. I like to camp in undeveloped areas and shuttle my
WaterMaster with my bike IF I can't find reasonable wade access.

Research that leads to advance knowledge of such camping, the wade access
on a mainly floating river, or whether the access roads are suited for
bike riding seems harder to do than finding an outfitter/ motel. I'm
gradually building a network of summer troutbums, guys ( and a gal ) that
spend the summers much as I do and have similar needs/ desires, but it's
still tough to find out certain things without making the 500 mile drive
... a drive that I find hard to commit to when I'm leaving a wonderful
place to head towards ???? Probably a gettin' old thing.

um. ... no, this doesn't have anything to do with your thread ... sorry

....but it does...and thank you.
