I'm trying to make a point. Tennis, and Davis Cup especially, is an
international game, as ROFF is an international forum. In all likelihood,
tennis is at least played in every country represented in ROFF. My
objection to the football talk here is that it's rude and provincial. Most
of the world doesn't give a rat's ass about American football. It's as
though some ROFF poster from, say, England were constantly posting about
cricket. That would be pretty annoying, don't you think?

No. If our international brethren posted a bit more about their sporting
activities, we might actually learn something new. As well, your suggestion
that "most of the world doesn't give a rat's ass about American football" is
an irrelevant assumption on your part, as you have no idea about what the
rest of the world gives a rat's ass about, right. Furthermore, what with so
many international students attending U.S. universities, it is just as
possible that many people around the world would be very interested in
American *college* football.

Now if you had said that you have no interest in American football, and that
anyone who discussed the subject is a rude and provincial lout, I'm
relatively certain that no ROFFian jaws would drop in astonishment.
