It's a great float. Water levels can be dissappointingly low as early
as late June. Below 250cfs don't go at all. At 250cfs canoes
only (light enough to drag). 350cfs or more ok
for rafts. 450cfs or more is ok for driftboats. I think those
are the guidelines (on the FWS website).
Long ago I knew a Bozeman area sheetrocker, painter/taper
who made that trip solo every year, without a shuttle.
He'd spend 3 days going down river to the last campground.
Then he turned around, with rope over shoulder, and waded all
the way back up, dragging his canoe. That leg took close to a
week. That had to be before the designated campground rules they
impose now.
