I think he may be referring to the Hexagraph line of rods made by the
English rod-makers Bruce and Walker, much praised by the late Hugh
Falkus.

I think (but I'm sure Mike Connor will know) that they were made of
carbon fibre, but following the notion of a split-cane rod.

I regularly fish B&W rods - indeed my absolute favo(u)rite salmon rod
is their 12 foot 'silver stream' for the mountain rivers of Donegal
like the Finn (white, or pale) River (I keep looking out for a backup
on ebay, but haven't yet found one)

But I, too, have heard bad things about the hexagraphs, and have never
fished one.
