Not trite, just an old joke. Jokes get to be old jokes for the obvious
reason. If someone who prides himself on his absolute inability to get
along with human beings fails to see the humor (which is, after all, an
exercise in humanity), so what?

I just love the smell of fresh brewing coffee.

...in the morning.

Sometimes in the evening too.
Although I seldom drink it at night.

It works well with many desserts.

It doesn't work if you don't finish the punch line.

Think I heard that before in Jonestown Guyana.

I believe you.

Well Mr. ROFF Iron Chef...
got any good dessert recipes handy?
I have to bring one to a Super Bowl party.

I've seen a few chefs (Emeril, for example, comes readily to mind) on T.V.
(back when I had a T.V.). I'm not a chef. I'm just a guy who likes to play
in the kitchen. What's more, I rarely concern myself much with desserts.
When I have guests, I leave that to them. When dining alone, I usually just
have a store bought muffin or something else really simple.
However, I DID get some good reviews on a little concoction some years
back.......

Add a bunch of brown sugar, some orange zest, a bit of freshly ground
cinnamon (yes, freshly ground DOES matter) and a bunch of finely chopped
hazel nuts to a half pint or so of heavy cream (aka whipping cream). Pour
the whole mess onto a slice of good pound cake.....the usual dessert breads
will do in a pinch, I suppose.....and top off with fresh raspberries.

who, given that he did not use a recipe for this dish, is forced to the
conclusion that both he and it are authentically creole.
