Aw, c'mon, Joe. This was a classic Greek Tragedy of an object

Yeah, maybe "fix" is too strong an accusation, and the machinations
necessary for such a thing no small matter; but from my sofa, I
thought both teams uninspired & uninspiring, as though they were going
through the motions, with the drama already scripted. The media
already had their darling; all that was left was to get through 60
minutes of a football game so they could sell more stuff. Kind of
like the Brady franchise had run its course, but the Eli market was
just opening up. I dunno, maybe it's just me.
I vote for the "it's just me" answer, and think we must have been watching
different games. The Giants had the Pats offense on their heels from early
in the game. Their blitzes were near-flawless, and the Pats abandoned the
offense that got them to the bowl in the first place. It was a great game
that kept me watching all the way to the last seconds.
As far as your "uninspiring" comments, I think you must be referring to the
halftime show and most of the ads - BLECH! Although it was VERY sophomoric,
the Doritos-mouse-through-the-wall ad cracked me up. The e-trade "baby" ads
were pretty cool, too.
