Refreshingly - something, other than party politics are usual.
Obama told the Reno Gazette-Journal editorial board Monday that "Reagan
changed the trajectory of America in a way that Richard Nixon did not and
in a way that Bill Clinton did not. He put us on a fundamentally different
path because the country was ready for it," Obama said.
"I think it's fair to say that the Republicans were the party of ideas for
a pretty long chunk of time there over the last 10 to 15 years in the
sense that they were challenging conventional wisdom," Obama told the
newspaper.

When a Democratic presidential candidate can praise Reagan and the
Republican party, maybe there is some hope for moderating the divide
between the two parties and the animosity between their supporters.
When a Democratic presidential candidate can praise Reagan and the
Republican party it indicates that Democratic presidential candidates, like
all career politicians, are capable of saying whatever they think (rightly
or otherwise) will improve their chances of getting elected.
The animosity between the supporters of candidates from the two major
political parties in this country is simply proof of something or other that
smells bad.

who knows that the best way to be rid of bad smells is to find out what
causes them......and then remove it.
