Great question Bob! I'm a bank beater as well. I rarely fish in more
than 12 feet of water.
Well, I rarely fish for bass in more than 12' of water either... because we
ain't got much water over 12' in the entire lower river.
I look forward to the guys answers.
I've been playing with ideas for summer time bass location relating to
thermocline depth, but that doesn't help much with winter time bass
location.

Most folks I know target shore or shore related cover and structure. Any
tips on moving out? I personally have never had much luck going offshore
for bass, and even the couple really good spots I know that seem like
open water spots are actually related to the shore if you take the time
to idle around and graph the entire area.
