though i've done it and observed it, other than when walking the
shallows with a lamp and attempting to gig flounder (haven't done that
in decades, but it was fun), i hate night fishing. tough to tie knots,
see casts, spot the take, etc. it just don't do it for me. and, i have
enough trouble ambulating in daylight hours. but...dawn to dusk, i'm
there with any that want to try to solve the mystery...

Actually, I was thinking more of a full moon kinda thing, esp. on the
blue/green - it provides plenty of light - rather than just FFing, for
trout or otherwise.

ah...yup, there is that... i have aspirations to do an overnight on the
gulf stream...but, my boat is a bit small and i've never been sure
enough of the wakefullness of my mates, sufficient fuel, or the
winds/waves. plenty of light on the boat to take care of my own night
blindness, but lots of big ships out there, and the weather off the
outer banks is more fickle than a woman in hot flash... still, the
gossip of full moon marlin and my nearness to the end-times has me
tempted to give it a go ...

Get up a group and book a tuna trip out of Venice, LA, or even a 2-3
trip out of many places on the FL-AL-MS-LA Gulf Coast. If you get
interested in such, and want some input, email me.

As to the "Old Man and the Sea" thang, if you don't think you're up to
it, you're not. I don't mean that sarcastically - IMO, if more folks
listened when that little voice said, "Um, this probably isn't such a
good idea...," they'd be a whole lot better off when it comes to stuff
like blue water boating.

If the weather had been right, we were headed out tomorrow for a
2-nighter. As it stands, it'll likely be a Sunday-out-to-the-island
(Horn) with the gals, but hey, that's fun, too.

TC,

agree...and will do.

i'm off to harkers island tomorrow in search of puppy drum and whatever
might surrender to my inshore dawn-dusk pursuits... g
