possibly, because no specific pattern is really necessary.
The fish feed on cicadas opportunistically, never seeing enough of them to
get the details locked in, I suspect.
Anyhow, fussing over patterns will not result in anything more successful
than a large cricket or other chunky, dark floating fly that can land with
an obvious "plop".

That's what I'm doing. I've got some salmonfly patterns that I will
hit with a magic marker to give it the black and orange banding on the
cicada abdomen.
