Like the other's I use both a clamp and pedestal for my Traveler vise.
I use the pedestal mostly when away from home, and clamp is much
better for streamers and sal****er flies. As was pointed out if you
really get into tying, you will spend alot of time at the vise, so be
fore buying anything, decide on where you are going to be tying, height
of table and chair, so you can get the better set up. Most better shops
will let you try a vise before buying. Ramsey Outdoor, Shannon's, and
Tightlines are your best bet.
