I was too busy today to entertain the few belligerant morons who
decided to go postal on us so let me explain exactly what ROFF/T
really are.

ROFF - Recreation Outdoor Fly Fishing
ROFFT - Recration Outdoor Fly Fishing Tying

A few questions that you may have...

What the hell do we need ROFF/T for?
Why all of the sudden are we being attacked?
What is the ROFF/T protocol?

I.
We don't need ROFF/T. They are here for a few reasons. To attract new
users is 1 reason but not the main purpose. If it was the main
purpose, ROFF posts would remain on the front page. ROFFT is a tying
group. I figured what harm could be to allow the users from this site
to see what other tyers from around the world are tying. ROFF on the
other hand is a global group. You can post to this group but you'll
have to go onto the forums page to see and post to these threads/
posts. I figured having these newsgroups or USENet forums only benefit
you guys. If you had a question regarding fly fishing or fly fishing
in another country, someone might have been able to chime in and help.
No harm meant over here but it looks like a few ROFFians took some
offense. Why? Because when you post smilies and/or attach photo's,
they are not translated therefore a smilie such as this one "" looks
more like,

":rofl:".When you quote a message, they see the quote tags
"[qvote]quoted message...blah blah blah[/qvote]. So yes, it's a little
annoying for some of them. Others just brush it off or filter us out.
They see all of the other tags too. I understand their frustration but
I think their actions are ridiculous so we'll keep them here just to
annoy them. Why??? Because we can.

II.
I can't answer this for anyone. We've been posting to ROFF/T for a few
years now. I don't quite understand why all of the sudden we're being
bombarded with these messages. Either way, who cares?

III.
Just like river etiquette, ROFF/T has a protocol. Wouldn't it have
been simple for one of these clowns to just explain the protocol
rather than chastise us for not complying to it? So what is the
protocol? There are a few of them... The first one is that when you're
quoting someone, they like the quote to be placed on the top or the
bottom, but not both. I'm not really sure which they prefer. Perhaps
the ROFF people from China like seeing the quoted message on top but
the people from India prefer to see the message on the botton. Come to
think of it, I've never seen a message written in Chinese or Indian.
Yes, these are worldly groups but let's face it... The only ones
complaining are 2-3 people who speak not so fluent english with the
exception of their use of colorful metaphores.

So do we stop providing access to these 3 groups. Yes, 3. I almost
forgot about the salt water forum. I don't think so. But, I will
certainly try to at least prohibit the attachments for these 3 forums.
It's a waste of our bandwidth over here.

They can say whatever they like about me. I couldn't care less. Call
me a cheat and a liar. I'm not quite so sure what I'm cheating and
lying about but one day I'll find out.

Anyhow, let me quickly explain once again (I know I've done this
already)... USENET. Perhaps you might see a set of rules to follow? As
far as I'm concerned, as long as we're on topic you're free to post.

for ages and that we are trouncing on them. In his latest

As I've stated... We have been posting to newsgroups for 2 years now
(maybe longer). All of the sudden we have a few people who decided

Riverman seems to know exactly what I'm thinking. How could she
possibly know what I'm thinking! I've never even spoken to this
person! She would have to be psychic. Anyhow, she just might be. I'm
enjoying watching these morons make idiots of themselves. At the same
time, I have to apologize to a few of you because you may not have
been aware that I have allowed some of you to make yourselves look
like idiots to these 3-4 ROFFians. Please accept my apologies for
that. See... ROFF/T is not a part of NEFF. It's a completely different
entity. We simply pull in these public posts. So for an example... You
may have posted a thread in the "fly fishing forum" asking a user of
this site to explain something. ROFF ladies see this and think, "What
the hell is this guy talking about?" because they are not part of
NEFF. This creates a big misunderstanding between us and them. I still
don't see the harm of ROFFT though. I mean... You ask someone to tie a
Hendrickson and you might get a reply from someone in England who
might be happy to explain how to tie his/her version of the
Hendrickson.


By the way, Google does this, Yahoo does this, and many other services
do this too. Why should we stifle ourselves.

He's partly right. We have injected ourselves... rather, I have
assisted some of you in injecting yourselves into the USENET forums.
But for him to say that he's having a conversation about NEFF in his
little own world... Well... I'm not buying it.

All I ask is that when you post to ROFF, keep it on topic and don't
post attachments.

Any objections? I can certainly remove the Global fly tying forum as
well as the global fly fishing forums from this site. It makes no
difference to me. I just figured it was a benefit to some of you who
might like the ROFF/T newsgroups.

As far as the 3-4 people who have shown their brilliant use of the
english language... I Just hope you don't lose sleep over them.
Perhaps they were drinking Corona's.

By the way... One more thing... Here is an example of what the ROFF/T
crowd sees when reading your posts...
