Hey Harry, you old Buckeye. Long time no see.

The new pup is a yellow Lab. I'm going to train her for upland
work first then water retrieving later.

Well, if you're going to use her like a spaniel, train her like one.
Three commands are basic: come, heel and hup. BTW, hup means sit.
Training to the whistle helps too. There are a couple of books that
you might look at: "Working Springers and Cockers" by Mike Smith, "The
Working Springer Spaniel" by Keith Erladnson, "Training Spaniels" by
Joe Irving, "Training the Rough Shooting Dog" by PRA Maxon etc. Dunno
if any of 'em are in the U of I library but they can all be ILLed as
I'm sure you know.

Thanks Harry. Yeah, I'm hoping I can do an adequate job of training
her to do both. She's smart, willing and able, the only possible
obstacle is my own ignorance. We'll see.

Nice win bY U of I yesterday. "Oski-wah-wah" as my wife says. That
Juice guy is the best QB in the Big 10 IMO. And my new favorite
single malt is Talisker's '92 Distillers Edition. Try it (if you
haven't) you'll like it. :-) Just a touch of sherry smooths out the
Talisker.

Too close for comfort yesterday. I don't know how many times I want
a freshman kicking a 46 yard field goal in the closing seconds. Whew,
and yeah, OSKEE WOW WOW !!

I notice you weren't around last year when the Illini went into the
horseshoe and spanked Buckeye butt, however when the Buckeyes are
clear favorites this year you reappear on roff. Coincidence ? I
don't think so. ;-)

I've had Talisker but not that particular release. I'm still partial
to my Laphroaig and Lagavulin.
