Default rod for bride

Larry L a écrit :
My lovely bride of 32 years retires in March and will be traveling with me
on my trout bum summers, at least part of the time.

I expect to start her with a 4,5 or 6 and a single rod until she is doing
well with it

Fast? Slow?

A few years back, my spouse showed interest in fly fishing, just to keep
an eye on me while I was playing with Atlantic Salmon. ;-)

I thought of buying her a rod, thought she would love a shorter rod (I
had and 8'6" 7mt fast action) with a lighter line and medium to slow
action. But ignoring the little devil in me, we put her down for casting
class, just to make sure she could do it and enjoy it.

So she took a class and then went to the shop for a rod, to my
astonishment, she took a Sage 9', 8wt, med-slow action.

So my advice, ignore your instinct and enroll her in a casting class so
she can try a few different rods before buying. ;-)
