Cabin Fever

Well what Ive been doing the last few weeks is trying to deal with the
weather. Snow first (15") for which we are weenies, and power outs,
for which my old kitchen wood range makes up for just fine. But the
rain is getting to me, and the wind is a ****er. I am on a hill, and
the coastal winds whip from the Southern Olympics and the Willapa
Hills in a straight shot for 70-80 miles from the coast, then bang
right into my house. I love weather, but 2 weeks of horizontal rain
can find every imaginable way into a structure.
Then there are the FLOODS!!!!!!! Our hillside is soggy but at least we
are not floating like some. Most of the rivers in Western Washington
are flooding. All the passes between Eastern Washington and Western WA
are blocked, by avalanches, snow or landslides. As a result, X Country
which we enjoy is out for now.
North/South, IE Seattle to Portland is blocked, with 10ft of water
expected over I-5, and the Amtrak rail lines are flooded. Its expected
to take 3-4 days till its all passable. Consequently, I can't get out
of the Puget Sound area to check on a camper Ive got in E.Wash, and
the nearest river with a hydrograph is cresting as we speak near to
flood stage. The farmer i lease to is an old hand at this stuff so Im
pretty sure he can get his stock back from the river or at least up on
an old levee. Stuck here I cannot do a damn thing.
Ill head out to Florida in a few weeks for some welcome relief.
