Anyone here tie Carrie Stevens patterns? Where do you get the hooks?

you already got links to the two sources I am aware of.
And, to differ with Kevin, the hooks she used serve a mechanical purpose on
the waters she designed them for, that a tube fly wouldn't duplicate. Not to
say that his suggestion would or wouldn't fish more successfully, it would
just behave differently.

One of the reasons that the 10X is use is getting the fly down. I
just wanted to try this without going to a shorter hook and adding
weight. I do have a first edition, self-published copy of Streamer
Flies for Trolling and Casting (now called volume one) by Mike
Martinek and wanted to try some of the flies.

Frank,
I have fished this style of flies a lot for the past few summers taking
a number of good browns and surprisingly to me some very nice Arctic
char. Some I have tied but mostly dressed by Duane Vigue, who is so much
better than I am it is kinda embarrassing putting my flies in the same
box. I know there are known problems of poor hookups or poor fish
holding using these long hooks but I've not really experienced this
myself. Up to #4s they have proven to be superb lake flies, either
casting or trolling behind my float tube. I've not tried #2s. Oddly
enough, I've never caught a fish in running water on one. Have not
persisted long enough I suspect.

I would be interested to hear how you go. The flies are beautiful and
swim very nicely, I think....
